The foundations

Different kinds of foundations
The foundation for the barrel bath is optional. It can be installed on any level area that excludes wood-to-soil contact. This can be a site lined with paving slabs, filled with concrete or covered with gravel. However, on soft soils, on soils with high humidity or with a large difference in the horizontal soil level, a solid foundation is required - screw piles or a monolithic slab.
  • Paving slabs
This type of "foundation" is suitable for flat areas. Suitable for dense and medium-density soils. Paving slabs are purchased with a size of at least 300 x 300 mm in an amount corresponding to the number of anchor points of the legs-bases of the bath.

  • Longitudinal bars
This installation option is suitable for dense soils and soils of medium density and level ground. The most affordable option for installing a barrel-bath on two beams, 100 x 150 mm in size. The timber is treated with anti-rotting compounds and painted in the color of the legs-base of the bath. If desired, paving slabs or bricks are laid under the timber (at the intersection of the legs of the bath with the timber).
  • Concrete blocks
Concrete blocks are used for soil slopes up to 20 cm. They are used for dense soils and soils of medium density. The concrete blocks are placed under the base legs. Their number depends on the number of support points of the legs-bases of the bath. The number of blocks can be reduced by installing a beam (100 x 150 mm) connecting the blocks.
  • Filling with gravel
Filling with crushed stone is used with a slight slope. Used for dense soils, medium density soils.
  • Paving slab site
It is used with a slope of up to 20 cm between the corners. It is used for dense and medium density soils. We mark a rectangular area with sides equal to the width and length of the barrel-bath. Further on the area is filled with sand 20 cm thick into the prepared "trough". Then the sand is rammed or spilled with water, the paving slabs are leveled and laid.
  • Monolithic slab
Solid monolithic reinforced plate 100 - 150 mm thick. It is used when the soil is skewed no more than 50 cm. It is used for soft soils and soils of medium density. We mark a rectangular area with sides equal to the length and width of the barrel-bath, remove the sod, make a crushed-sand pillow, knit reinforcement and pour concrete.
  • Screw piles
Screw piles are used when there is a large difference in the horizontal ground level. Used for soils of medium density, soft soils, soils with high humidity. Such a foundation can be installed on water.

Piles are used: length from 1 to 2 m, wall thickness 5 - 6 mm, head plane size 200 by 200 mm.

The site is marked according to the foundation drawing for the selected bath. Screw piles with heads are twisted, on which two beams with a minimum section of 100 by 150 mm are laid. The timber is treated with antiseptic agents and, if desired, painted in the color of the base legs.
